Programme Franco-Suédois en philosophie et économie

The main aim of this international scientific program, funded by Riksbankens Jubileumsfond and Fondation Maison des sciences de l'homme and hosted by Collège d'études mondiales and Swedish Collegium Advanced Study, is to bring moral and political philosophy and economic theory to bear on the analysis, justification and criticism of political and economic institutions and public policies. This has proved to be a very fruitful approach to many long-discussed problems and has also generated new avenues for research.

Abstract : We discuss the conceptual foundations of measuring (in)equity in health and health care. After an overview of the recent developments in the measurement of socioeconomic inequalities and in racial disparities, we show how these partial approaches can be seen as special cases of the more general social choice approach to fair allocation and equality of opportunity.
